Academic Development

At our center, the Academic Development section serves as a cornerstone for enhancing the quality of education within our institution. Our vision and mission focus on empowering the teaching staff with the knowledge, skills, attitude and mindset necessary to embrace and put into practise the values, strategies and methodologies of modern pedagogy. We offer short courses, public seminars, and workshops designed to empower educators and students with the key concepts of contemporary pedagogy. These initiatives aim to foster an inclusive culture of teaching excellence, ensuring that all teaching staff can participate in the pedagogical reform we have been championing since 2019.

As part of this reform, we strive to move away from traditional teaching mindsets towards a modern pedagogical culture that emphasizes the integration of knowledge, skills and attitudes creative and critical thinking, problem-solving, and transferable skills. To support this multi-dimensional transformation, through our team efforts, we aspire to:

• Promote creative and innovative teaching methods, encouraging educators to think beyond traditional approaches and engage students in dynamic learning experiences.
• Diversify assessment approaches, adopting holistic and inclusive methods that better capture students’ abilities and achievements.
• Foster an entrepreneurial mindset, enabling educators to connect their teaching practices with societal needs and the evolving job market.
• Incorporate cutting-edge technology, ensuring our educators can effectively utilize digital tools to enhance learning outcomes.

By providing a condensed version of our six-month training program, we ensure that all teaching staff at the University of Sulaimani could align with our shared vision for education. This inclusivity not only unites our community around a common teaching philosophy but also drives meaningful and sustainable educational reform.
